goddamned pigeons

I fucking hate pigeons. Such dirty ugly annoying birds.

Pigeons really like my house, however. So much so that they like to sit on top of the chimney that leads down to the vent above my stove. A chimney with no grating over it. So then they fall down, and I get to listen to them cooing and scratching in the vent (they do this in the outvent to my dryer, as well). Anyway, there's been a pigeon stuck in there for about two days now. I can never tell if they get out again or if they die and now there's a pile of pigeons filling up my chimney.

But listening to the scratching I live in fear that one of them is going to plop out one day into whatever I'm cooking . . .

Anyway, I've been keeping busy. Andy's away this week, not likely to return until Saturday at this point, so I'm puttering around, catching up on the cleaning I didn't do when I was working my ass off last week. I've also been throwing away things like you wouldn't believe. I essentially got rid of an entire book shelf unit's worth of books, went through and chucked half my closet, a chunk of my knick-knacks . . .

So now all my crap is piled on my dining room table.

In addition, I went to my parents' house last night and, after more years than I can remember of collecting, said goodbye to my water collection. Sad, but necessary. It's not like I was planning on taking it with me. No reason for my parents to keep it for me. This is what it used to look like.

So that's me these days. Wedding plans are moving along. I can't book the ceremony venue until the office gets its 2009 calendar some time in May, so I can't book the officiant until then, either. We also can't seem to agree on bridesmaid dresses, but other than that, everything is hunky dory.
